Jera May

The artist combines video and projected imagery with the traditions of sculpture and collage creating installations that allow the physical world to exist in parallel with the virtual or imagined. Here, the title, Lagoon, is taken from The Drowned World by JG Ballard, a writer who considered science fiction to be the apocalyptic literature of the 20th century. Replacing the English Romantic painter John Constable’s foreboding sky with an invading ocean presents an inescapable peril for the inhabitants of this pastoral scene. /
